Workshop Summary
This presentation will cover the proven impact of childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences on the brain, body, and behavior throughout the lifetime. It will introduce the essentials of delivering strength-based trauma-sensitive care and offer a few strategies to APPLY these principles in our work with children and youth. It will focus on the power of well-boundaries loving human connection in healing and developing youth to become their best selves. It will speak to the imperative of restoring a positive sense of self back to people who have been unjustly mislabeled as problems. It will offer examples of how to give control back to people from whom it has been taken away. Above all, this workshop will discuss the imperative of creating safe, secure, and sustained adult relationships for young people.
