Program Description: Medical marijuana is currently an option for residents of Pennsylvania. The qualifying conditions, the products available, and the procedure to become a certified patient can be overwhelming for many. A practitioner who is knowledgeable about the process can be of assistance to someone who is overwhelmed with the process.

Through this Coffee & Conversation presentation, participants will learn about the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana program and how to most efficiently assist individuals with navigating the process of becoming a certified patient in the program.

The topic of medical marijuana is vast. This Coffee & Conversation will be limited to the Who, what, and how. There are many additional topics such as evidence base, possible practitioner/patient impairment, risks associated with active or past substance dependency, and many other topics that are not within the scope for this Coffee & Conversation

Clinical Objectives: Participants of this Coffee & Conversation presentation will be able to:

  1. Identify the various conditions which are qualifying conditions for the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program.
  2. Have an understanding of the process to become a patient in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program, including potential pitfalls.
  3. Ethical considerations related to evaluating a potential patient for referral to a physician for certification in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program.
